Galway Based Drama Lucky Run Wins StoryLand

The votes are in and Galway based drama Lucky Run is the winner of StoryLand, RTÉ's online drama competition. Produced by Capaillín Bán Teo Lucky Run was set and shot in Tuam in Co Galway and told the story of Robbie Dolan (Donal O'Meachair) who was given 48 hours to repay his debts to a local gangster in order to prevent his train-wreck of a life from steamrolling into the fireworks factory.

RTÉ Drama Development Executive Eilish Kent said: "I want to congratulate the cast and crew of Lucky Run. They produced a fast paced exciting drama which clearly won over StoryLand fans as it's the first time a drama has won the competition. We've eight engaging series in StoryLand this year, we are hugely impressed with the quality and diversity of stories and the teams who brought them to life. StoryLand is a key part in the range of RTÉ Drama's output and a great opportunity to cultivate new talent and stories."

StoryLand, RTÉ's online drama series is now in its third year and is an integral part of RTÉ Drama's overall strategy to bring new voices to our screens. The competition has been extremely successful to date with the 2009 winners Hardy Bucks crossing over onto RTÉ Two and many of the writers and directors who have participated in the competition having gone to work on other series such as Raw, Fair City and Republic of Telly.
