Smithwick Tribunal Chairman To Make Statement
The Chairman of the Smithwick Tribunal is due make an opening statement later today.
Set up in 2005, the tribunal investigated allegations of garda and state collusion in the 1989 IRA murders of two RUC officers.
Chief Superintendent Harry Breen and Superintendent Robert Buchanan were ambushed near the village of Jonesboro in County Armagh.
An interim report is due to be completed by the end of this month, with the final report completed by the end of November.
The tribunal is to begin hearing evidence this Thursday.

Govt Urged To Remove The Threat Of Workplace Tribunal Fees
SIPTU has called on the Government to remove the threat of workplace tribunal fees. Following a landmark ruling in the UK, which found that these charges mitigate against workers bringing such cases, the Government has been urged to amend legislation in order to remove the possibility of a minister introducing workplace tribunal fees.

Witness Risking Contempt At Tribunal
A witness at the Morris Tribunal is risking contempt of a High Court order and could face daily fines or imprisonment. Frank McBrearty Snr has refused to give evidence at the tribunal probing claims of garda corruption in Donegal. The Raphoe publican told counsel at the Morris Tribunal he is finished with the inquiry and no longer wished to attend.

Moriarty Tribunal Publishes Final Report
The Moriarty Tribunal has published its second and final report into the acquisition of the second mobile phone licence to Esat Digifone in 1996. Established in 1997, the inquiry looked into the financial affairs of former Taoiseach Charles Haughey and former Fine Gael communications Minister Michael Lowry.
