Five Questioned Over Arms Find

Garda are continuing to question five men held in custody over gangland activity.

Early yesterday, the men were detailed in Kill, Co. Kildare following a Gardaí stop and search operation that uncovered two guns.

It is believed they were en route to commit a serious crime.

All five, who are in their thirties, are being held at Clondalkin and Ballyfermot Garda Stations in Dublin.

100 New Recruits To Enter Garda College
One hundred new recruits are to enter Garda College, the Minister for Justice and Equity Frances Fitzgerald has announced. Training will commence in September this year at the Templemore facility, and marks the first new garda recruits to be recruited in five years.

Three In Court Following Tipperary Attack
Three of the five men arrested in relation to the shooting and stabbing of two men in Tipperary yesterday are appearing in Roscrea District Court this Thursday morning. The other two men were released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding their detentions.

Over €2m Worth Of Drugs Seized In Dublin
More than €2 million worth of drugs have been seized by Gardaí in Donaghmede, Dublin. Cannabis resin, cannabis herb and cocaine, worth and estimated €2.1 million were seized as part of an operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in North Dublin.

Five Arrested In Dissident Republican Investigation
Four men and one woman have been arrested as part of an operation targeting dissident republican activity in the Dublin region. The arrests were made on Saturday, 08 August in an operation led by Special Detective Unit, Emergency Response Unit and Crime and Security Branch.
