Gardaí Investigate Dublin Blaze

An investigation has been launched into a suspected arson attack and a robbery at a pub in Dublin.

Around 2am this morning, a number of men entered the Players Lounge in Fairview and demanded a sum of money.

A fire then broke out in the property destroying the building.

No one was injured in the incident.

The blaze was brought under control around 4am.

A police statement said: "Gardaí at Clontarf are investigating an armed robbery and fire which occurred at a Public House in Fairview at approximately 2.20am this morning.

Four men entered the premises, one of the men was believed to be armed. A member of staff was taken to the office where the safe is contained. This staff manager was then tied up and an undisclosed amount if cash was taken.

"Two fires were started on the premises and extensive was caused to the lounge area.

"The scene of the incident is currently sealed off pending a Garda forensic examination," concluded the statement.

Investigating Gardaí are now appealing to any person who was in the Fairview Strand area between 2am and 3am and noticed anything suspicious to contact Clontarf Garda Station incident room 01- 6664800, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Firefighters Die In Wicklow Explosion

Gardaí have seized cocaine worth €140,000 at premises in Ronanstown in west Dublin. The discovery was made during a raid at around 7pm on Wednesday. A woman was arrested at the scene however she has since been released without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A series of raids were carried out in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Dublin and Louth by officers investigating robberies and assaults carried out in the Dublin area over the summer.

Gardaí Appeal After Man Injured In Dublin Crash
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Dublin on the evening of Monday 14 January. The man's motorbike collided with a van on Cappagh Avenue in Finglas and caught fire at around 10pm. He was transferred to Blanchardstown hospital and remains there in serious condition.

Woman And Child Hit By Car While Walking On Dublin Street
A woman has been killed after being hit by a car as she pushed a pram along a Dublin street. Gardaí have reported that the woman in her 30s was killed and a child injured when they were hit by a car on the main Dublin Road into Balbriggan. The child is being treated at Temple Street Children's Hospital.
