Man Released In Cork Arson Investigation

A man arrested in connection with an arson attack on the home of an elderly woman in Cork city last year has been released without charge.

May O'Gorman, 87, was in her home in Murrough's Lane, off Blarney Street, on December 13 last years, when an accelerant was poured through her letter box and set alight.

The pensioner was rescued from the property by gardaí and was treated for smoke inhalation in hospital.

Vehicles Damaged In Suspected Arson Attack
Vehicles contracted to Irish Water have been damaged in a suspected arson attack in Waterford. It is understood an estimated €100,000 of damage was caused to a white Hino tipper truck with a hydraulic grab, a transport trailer, a mini-digger and a hydraulic rock breaker.

Gardaí Investigate Dublin Blaze
An investigation has been launched into a suspected arson attack and a robbery at a pub in Dublin. Around 2am this morning, a number of men entered the Players Lounge in Fairview and demanded a sum of money. A fire then broke out in the property destroying the building. No one was injured in the incident.

Irish Jockey Killed In Suspected Arson Attack
An up-and-coming Irish jockey was one of the people killed in a suspected arson attack in a block of flats in north Yorkshire at the weekend. Galway-born Jamie Kyne, 18, died in the blaze at the flats in Norton, near Malton in north Yorkshire, which broke out in the early hours of Saturday morning.

29-Year-Old Faces Arson Charges
A 29-year-old man is due in Dublin District Court charged with arson in connection to a fire at a three-storey house in Dublin. A number of people had to be rescued from the burning building on the South Circular Road last Sunday night. One woman, 24, was treated in hospital for minor injuries.
