Tallaght Patient Died On Hospital Trolley
A man died while on a hospital trolley awaiting a doctor.
Today, a verdict of death due to natural causes has been recorded after an inquest into the death of a patient at Tallaght Hospital Emergency Department.
Coroner Dr Kieran Geraghty said there was no evidence that any treatment would have prevented the death of Thomas Brennan on 22 July from a condition, which led to a heart attack.
Today's inquest heard how Mr Brennan had been admitted to Tallaght Hospital emergency department at 12.27pm, as doctors were concerned about abdominal pain.
Mr Brennan was referred to the duty medical team for admission to a bed, but he was not seen to again until after 1am the following morning, by which point he had passed away.

Man Shot In Leg At His Dublin Home
A man was shot in the leg at his home in Dublin last night. The man, in his 30s, was shot at a number of times, at his house in Tallaght, south Dublin, according to Gardai. He was taken to Tallaght Hospital, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The victim was shot at three times in the leg at his front door.

The suicide of a Dublin woman has forced Tallaght hospital chiefs to close off its balconies to patients. An inquest at Dublin County Coroner's Court heard on Tuesday that Geraldine Maher, 43, of Summerville Park, Walkinstown, Dublin 12, was found lying on the ground of the hospital's reception area.

Nursing staff in the Emergency Department of Tallaght Hospital are continuing to face "serious difficulties", according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO). The organisation confirmed Manageement raised ongoing staffing difficulties and overcrowding at a meeting with the INMO on the 22 November.
