Norris Wants Presidency Support
A meeting has been held in which the Trinity College Senator, David Norris, met with Independent TDs and Senators to discuss the presidential election.
Mr Norris was scheduled to meet a group of Independent TDs and Senators in Leinster House at lunchtime.
He withdrew his bid for presidency in early August after the publication of a controversial letter he wrote seeking clemency from an Israeli court for a former partner facing a charge of statutory rape.
According to a news report by RTE Mr Norris is once again seeking their support to run for the Presidency.
Independent candidate Mary Davis also met with the group separately and it is understood that director of the Trócaire charity Justin Kilcullen will also attended.
The meeting with Ms Davis was set for 12.15pm, Mr Norris is next at 12.30 with Mr Kilcullen scheduled for 12.45.
In total two dozen TDs and Senators have were invited.

McGrath 'Won't Back Norris' For President
An Independent TD has decided not to sign Senator David Norris's nomination papers for the Irish Republic's Presidential race, after his supporters voted against the move. Independent TD Mattie McGrath had indicated that he would sign Senator Norris' papers but only after he sought approval from a core group of his supporters.

Norris Secures 12 Backers
Independent Senator David Norris has secured the backing of 12 Oireachtas members, just over half of what he needs to gain a place on Presidential ballot papers in the Irish Republic. Senator Katherine Zappone and TD Richard Boyd Barrett are among the parliamentarians to sign Senator Norris's nomination papers.
