Ireland To Launch Tourist Initiative
A two-day forum in Dublin Castle has heard that Ireland will soon launch its biggest ever tourist initiative.
With the aim to attract over 300,000 visitors to Irish shores next year, the initiative titled 'The Gathering' will be a year long event which will allow people at home and abroad to help aid the State's economic recovery.
The initiative will see a programme of events, festivals and fun designed to bring record numbers of visitors to the country.
It is hoped the initiative will bring 325,000 extra visitors to Ireland in 2013, boosting the tourism industry, creating jobs and injecting millions of euros into the economy.
Transport Minister Leo Varadkar announced the plan to 270 political, business and cultural leaders from home and abroad during the Global Irish Economic Forum.
This is the second Global Irish Economic forum. It was started with an aim to develop Ireland’s global business and trade relations.
In addition it is used as a platform to discuss face-to-face the Government's priorities for economic renewal with key members of the international business community.
