Woman Held Over Deadly Boyle Blaze

A 50 year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a Roscommon house fire that claimed the life of a five year-old girl.

The arrested woman is being held in Boyle Garda Station where a man in his 30s also remains in custody in connection with the fire.

The blaze broke out at a property on Termon Road, Boyle on October 3 and the alarm was raised at around 3am.

Garda investigating the fatal house fire in Boyle believe that the fire was started maliciously.

Five-year-old Mari Connolly died in the blaze. Her father Richard, believed to be in his 40s, and her two sisters, aged six and eight, escaped from the home.

With the two children in his arms Richard jumped from a second storey window to escape the blaze. It is understood that father sustain serious back injuries. They were all taken to Sligo General Hospital.

Arson Charge Follows Fatal Boyle Blaze
A 33-year-old man has been charged in connection with a house fire in Roscommon that claimed the life of a five year-old girl. John Lynch with an address at Church View in Boyle was charged with committing arson at Termon Road in the town on 3 October. He was remanded in custody to appear again at Harristown District Court tomorrow.

Elderly Woman Dies In Wexford House Fire
An elderly woman has died in a house fire in Co Wexford. The alarm was raised early this morning, Tuesday 10 December, after a blaze broke out at a house in Davidstown, between Enniscorthy and New Ross. The woman, aged in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Woman Dies In House Fire In Co Clare
A woman has died in a house fire in Co Clare. The victim, in her 50s, was alone at the property in Derrynavaha, Craggah, when the fire started at around 7pm on Sunday night. Gardai are currently investigating the incident.

Investigation Follows Dublin Blazes
Gardaí have launched an investigation following a series of fires in Dublin yesterday evening. The suspicious blazes led Dublin Fire Brigade to attend three separate incidents in the Darndale area in the northside of the city within just over an hour. The first fire began at three unoccupied houses in the Buttercup Park estate at about 9.10pm.

Dublin Fire Brigade has revealed it responded to 1,100 emergency calls during Halloween night. On what is normally the service's busiest night of the year, there were also reports of attacks on fire crews while Dublin Bus was forced to withdraw its service in part of the city.
