Fatal Co Tyrone Road Crash Probed By Police

There has been an appeal for eyewitnesses to come forward after another road tragedy in the North.

The police arrested two people at the scene as they began a probe into the death of a man who was fatally injured in the traffic accident in rural Co Tyrone.

The police have confirmed that the victim was Kevin Hughes, 33, from the Dromore area and that he died after a two-vehicle collision on the Dooish Road between the village and Drumquin on Monday.

The PSNI also said that two women, aged 37 and 42, were arrested at the scene and were last night assisting police with their inquiries.

Meanwhile, the PSNI has appealed for information and are keen to speak to anyone travelling on the Dooish Road around 5pm on Monday.

A bomb blast has devastated the area round a Londonderry police station. The PSNI said two men, one armed with a gun, hijacked a taxi driver shortly before 3am this morning and that the bomb was loaded into his car after which he was forced to drive to the police station.

PSNI Cuts Uproar
An already financially beleaguered police service is facing fresh cutbacks. As a result, the Northern Ireland Policing Board is to challenge the Government over proposed £17m cuts in the police service budget. Members are expected to hold a crunch meeting with the NIO Security Minister, it has been announced.
