Garda And PSNI Pay Tribute To Flood Victims
The Garda and members of the PSNI are set to honour those killed during flash floods in Wicklow.
Garda Ciarán Jones died on Monday last while trying to help commuters who were stuck in the severe flooding.
The 25-year-old, who was off duty at the time, was swept away by floodwaters at Ballysmuttan Bridge in County Wicklow.
More than 200 gardaí and PSNI officers will wear black ribbons in memory of their colleague when they take part in the Dublin marathon today.
Garda and the PSNI would also like to pay tribute to the other victim of the flooding who was found in a flooded basement apartment in Dublin.
The Filipino woman, Celia Ferrer de Jesus, believed to be aged in her 30s, drowned after her apartment became submerged.
The joint police team hope to raise thousands for good causes.

The east of Ireland fell victim to heavy rainfall at the beginning of the week that saw a major emergency being declared in the Dublin region.
Passengers were trapped in a Dublin bus by floodwater and there was widespread disruption to the public transport service in Dublin.
Meanwhile major disruption was caused to shop owners in Dundrum Shopping Centre when the centre had to be evacuated due to first floor flooding.
The River Slang burst its banks and created a surge of water, which flowed through the lower level of the centre.
Insurer Aviva has said it is to make €10m available immediately to customers affected by the recent flooding.
Aviva says is has created the fund to ensure it can make advance payments to customers to purchase much-needed items that were lost during the floods.

Fianna Fáil has called on insurance companies to provide flood cover to households and businesses in Cork City. TD for Cork South Central, Michael McGrath, has called on insurers to offer the cover again once major flood relief works are carried out in the city.

Flooded Galway In Urgent Need Of Govt Assistance
Galway is in urgent need of government assistance following repeated flooding across the region. Making the call, Fianna Fáil TD for Galway East, Anne Rabbitte, has also called on the acting Minister for Flood Relief to introduce long promised flood defence measures in the county, as well as requesting emergency roads funding.
