Irish Set To Spend Most On Xmas

Irish households will spend more money this Christmas than any other European country, a survey has revealed.

The research by business consultants Deloitte found the average household will splash out €943 on gifts, food and socialising this Christmas; that's 40% higher than the European average.

Other top spenders are Luxembourg and Switzerland budgeting €923 and €841 per household respectively.

Households in the Netherlands have budgeted just €260 for the holidays.

50 Full Time Jobs To Be Created At Co Kildare Estate
Fifty full-time jobs are to be created at Palmerstown House and Estate in Co Kildare over the next 12 months. The jobs are to be in the hospitality and leisure sector. An additional 50 part time jobs will also be created over the coming Christmas period. The estate was recently acquired by the Corner Group from the National Asset Management Agency.
