Limerick And Dublin Secure 100 Jobs Deal

Some 100 new jobs are being created in Dublin and Limerick, it was announced today.

Dublin will see a total of 35 jobs created by the establishment of new research and development team by software development company Misys.

The business develops software for the financial services industry and already employs over 100 people in Dublin at two software development centres, Misys International Banking and Sophis Technology.

Misys said 25 of the jobs are for software engineers and ten are in consultancy roles.

Meanwhile, some 70 jobs are being created at ON Semiconductor in Limerick as the firm plans to invest €13m in its design centre.

The research and development positions are to work on a project to provide more power-efficient solutions for use in computing and consumer applications.

eReading Firm To Create Over 30 Jobs

45 New Software Jobs For Sligo
Some 45 new jobs are to be created in Sligo by online discount retailer Overstock.com, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation has announced. The Salt Lake City, Utah-based online discount retailer employes some 1,300 people worldwide, will create a new software development team in Ireland.

Ruane Criticised Over 'Actionable' Advice
The North's Minister for Education and the Stormont Department of Education have been criticised for advising schools to follow guidance on selection which may leave them open to legal challenge. The Governing Bodies Association has received legal advice on the Transfer 2010 policy. The association represents 52 voluntary grammar schools across NI.

Dublin Software Firm Creates 50 New Jobs
Fifty new jobs have been announced by computer software firm Citrix in Dublin. The new position, which will bring the company's total employees in Ireland to 265, are to be in sales, IT shared services and technical support. A recruitment day is to be held for the jobs on 18 October, the company has said.
