Man Arrested Over Pearse Street Assault
A man aged in his 20s has been arrested by Gardai investigating a serious assault on a 41-year-man at Pearse St, on Monday.
He was arrested in the south inner city area on Monday evening and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, at Pearse St Garda Station.
Gardaí said on Monday they were investigating a serious assault that occurred at approximately 12.20am.
The incident happened near the junction of Erne Street when a 41-year-old male taxi driver was attacked by a lone male who left the scene and walked in the direction of Erne Street.
The taxi driver was taken to James’s Hospital where his condition is described as serious. No arrests have been made and investigations are underway. A scene was preserved on Pearse Street and the bus lane was closed off but it has since re-opened.
Any witnesses to the incident, or anyone with information to offer, are asked to contact Gardaí at Pearse Street on 01 6669000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Man Released Over Journalist Murder
A man who was arrested over the murder of a Northern Irish journalist in Dublin at the weekend has been released. The man, thought to be in his twenties, left Pearse Street Garda Station last night. One other man remains in custody.

Arrests Follow Deadly Double Shooting
Four people are in custody today as Gardai at Pearse Street station investigating the fatal shooting at Pearse House on Sunday continue to probe the deadly incident. Three males and one female were arrested in Dublin overnight and are currently detained at City Centre Garda Stations under Section 50 Criminal Justice Act 2007.

Woman Arrested Over Serious Attack
A woman has been arrested over a serious attack which occurred outside a pub at St George's Quay, Dublin, last weekend. The victim sustained serious facial injuries in the assault. The 21-year-old who was arrested is currently being held at Pearse Street Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
