Tesco 'Creates Irish Jobs'
As part of a €120 million investment programme in Ireland, Tesco Ireland has this week unveiled their new Kildare store creating over 130 new jobs.
This follows on from the recent opening of the new Cabra and Rush stores, as well as the Northcott Centre in the north of the province.
Tesco’s €120 million investment programme is creating 755 new jobs across the country.
Construction work on the various projects is also creating a further 548 building jobs with the investment programme extended until summer 2012.
Last year, Tesco created 825 jobs in Ireland and now employs over 14,000 people in the Republic.
Store Manager, James Murphy, said: "We are delighted to welcome everyone to our brand new store in Kildare Town…We believe that the new store will be an important addition to the community in Kildare Town…We look forward to getting to know our new customers and to building a long and positive relationship with the community in Kildare Town."
As part of Tesco’s ongoing commitment to reduce their carbon footprint, the construction of the Kildare Town store featured a number of innovative, environmentally-friendly technologies including a timber frame built from sustainable sources instead of steel, refrigeration which uses CO2 to cool the freezers and fridges rather than traditional refrigerant gases, and a CHP plant that heats the store and generates electricity very efficiently.
The new Tesco Kildare Town store is open 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 8pm on Sundays.
