'Viable Bomb' Disabled Along Irish Border
The border area of south Armagh was the focus at the weekend with a bomb found in Keady.
Several homes were evacuated in the village of Keady following a telephoned bomb warning on Sunday night and British Army bomb experts were called.
A suspect device was later made safe to be taken away for further examination, although the PSNI confirmed it was viable. All diversions have now been lifted.
The Newry and Armagh UUP MLA Danny Kennedy has since condemned those who were responsible for leaving a bomb in Keady last night.
Danny Kennedy said: "The discovery of this bomb last night in Keady is very concerning.
"Clearly there are still people who are intent on causing death and mayhem and their actions are to be condemned. Keady has suffered too much in previous years and I know the local community is determined to live in peace.
"I wish to thank the PSNI, Army and all those who were involved in last night's operation for ensuring that the device was found and made safe."
He also slammed reports of the local police station being earmarked for closure and said: "Keady PSNI station has been identified by the Policing Board as listed for closure. This development clearly indicates that such a move would be premature."
Elsewhere, a PSNI helicopter was this morning providing 'top cover' as officers in north Belfast closed off part of the busy Antrim Road after shots were fired on Monday morning.
It was closed between Carlisle Circus and Pimm Street while police investigated the incident, which took place shortly after 7am..
While there are no reports of anyone being injured, police have asked for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact them.
