Man Shot Dead In Dundalk

An investigation into the shooting dead of a man in Dundalk over the weekend has been launched.

Gardaí in the area said they are investigating the shooting incident that took place in the early hours of this morning, Sunday.

Gardaí said that shortly before 4am, a taxi pulled up outside a house on Cluain Ard, Lis Na Dara and it was approached by a lone male who fired a number of gunshots into the car.

A 35-year-old male sitting in the back seat was fatally injured. The other occupants, a male driver, 48, and female front seat passenger, 21, received injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

They were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital to be treated for their injuries.

A short time later a 32-year-old male presented himself at Carrickmacross Garda Station where he was arrested. He is presently detained there under section 50 of The Criminal Justice Act 2007.

Arrest Follows Second Murder
There has been an arrest this morning after a bread delivery man was shot dead at a petrol station on the Ennis Road in Limerick. A 29-year-old man has been held in connection with the murder of the delivery man - believed to have been in his 30s.

GAA Star's Murder Recalled In Court
There was a court hearing in Co Louth today over the shock weekend murder of a Crossmaglen man. Shane Rogers, 32, with an address in Co Monaghan, was charged with murder and was remanded in custody following a brief court hearing after he arrived into Dundalk Court House under heavy police escort.

Gardai at Maynooth, Co Kildare are investigating the most recent incident when a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision occurred at Laraghbyran, Maynooth last night 19th October 10.00pm. The collision involved two cars.
