Drivers Warned To Take Care In Winter Weather

Severe winds and icy conditions are set top blast Ireland later today with commuters advised to be extra cautious on the roads because of strong winds and sleet and snow in places.

Already, Met Éireann is forecasting a very windy or stormy day with winds gusting 100-140km/h, strongest along the north coast.

They also said that showers or thunderstorms would give some wintry falls of hail, sleet and snow especially on hills but at some low levels also with icy patches.

There will even be blizzard-like conditions on some of the hills of the north and west and tonight, wintry showers will continue in the north, northwest and southwest overnight with falls of sleet or snow and temperatures will drop to -2C in places.
