ESB Assist In Scottish Electricity Restoration

Ireland's electricity supply board have sent a crew of technicians to Scotland, to assist the country restore its storm damaged power grid.

ESB Networks said it will be deploying 22 network technician crews and support staff to assist Scottish & Southern Electricity (SSE) and Scottish Power in their electricity supply restoration efforts after the damage brought about by severe storm weather in recent days.

A spokesman for ESB Networks said: "Having successfully dealt with the network issues generated by the same storm across Ireland, including providing assistance to Northern Ireland Electricity, ESB Networks will now be offering assistance to our near neighbours."

Crews will depart Belfast for the west coast of Scotland and the Kilmarnock area at 0730hrs & 1130hrs this morning.
