Survey Reveals Ireland's Overeating Habits
Nearly 25% of people over indulge during the festive period- eating double what they normally would- this comes at a time when health officials are calling on people to change their behaviour towards food and exercise to improve their health.
According to a survey carried out by Aviva Health Insurance 24% of those surveyed doubled the amount they ate - giving themselves larger portions, eating chocolate, crisps and other treats.
Meanwhile the same survey revealed that over a quarter of those surveyed put on 3lb as result of binge eating over Christmas. A further 23% are likely to have gained 2lb, which Aviva has described as concerning considering obesity figures are gradually on the rise in Ireland.
It was also revealed that nearly half of the survey participants had no exercise during their festive break claiming they were either too lazy or the weather was too bad as an excuse.
27% of those surveyed also revealed that they drank ten units more of alcohol more than they would in a normal week.
