Minister Announces €2M For Limerick Road Regeneration

Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar has today announced €2 million in funding for the Coonagh to Knockalisheen Distributor Road in Limerick, which will be a significant part of the Moyross regeneration programme.

Minister Varadkar made the announcement during a visit to the region. The funding is being awarded to Limerick City Council and will be used to prepare the project for the tender process, prior to construction.

"I'm very pleased to be able to allocate this funding, as the project will be a key piece of economic and social infrastructure, and vital for the Moyross regeneration programme. The €2 million in funding marks a major stage in the development process," Minister Varadkar said.

The project will provide a new link road to Moyross, and a new 3km dual carriageway between the N18 at the Coonagh roundabout and the Knockalisheen Road along the north west side of the city. As part of the project, the Knockalisheen Road will be upgraded with new footpaths and cycle lanes over 1.7km.
