Quinn Family Mount IBRC Challenge
A challenge by businessman Sean Quinn's family to a claim they are liable to repay loans of over €2 billion to the former Anglo Irish Bank begins in the High Court in Dublin today.
Mr Quinn's wife, Patricia, and his five children are claiming they are not liable to repay the €2.3 billion to the Irish Bank Resolution Coporation (IBRC), formerly Anglo.
The family have also said the bank does not have any right to seize valuable properties.
A preliminary issue into the case is to be heard at the Commercial Court this morning.
Mr Quinn was declared bankrupt last month by the courts in Dublin.

Seán Quinn Jnr Appeal Launched
Ireland’s Supreme Court has begun hearing an appeal launched by Seán Quinn Jnr against his three month jail term. His lawyers have told the Supreme Court his indefinite imprisonment for contempt of court and failing to reverse an asset-stripping conspiracy is "incorrect and legally wrong".

The sentencing sees the culmination of a high-profile legal battle between the Quinns and bailed-out bank Anglo Irish over claims of asset-stripping by the former billionaire. The Supreme Court has been told that a computer hard drive which contained crucial information pertaining to the recent charges against the Quinn Group was deliberately smashed. The hard drive was part of the operations of a Quinn Group Russian company.
