Journalist John Cunningham Passes Away
Galway journalist and former editor of the Connaught Tribune John Cunningham died last night.
Mr Cunningham, joined the Connaught Tribune in 1984 to 2007. He previously worked as editor for the Waterford News and Star from 1982 to 1984.
In 2006, he was conferred with an Honorary MA degree at NUI Galway for his contribution to regional and national journalism and for his role as lecturer of journalism at the college.
FF Leader Micheál Martin said: "It is with sadness that I learned of the death of Galway journalist John Cunningham.
"John was regarded as one of the best local newspaper Editors and columnists in the country. He had an unparalleled insight into local politics and always approached every issue with balance and fairness. John was highly respected by everyone he worked with, in the media, in politics and in the community."
Mr Cunningham is survived by his wife Nuala and his four sons Shane, Gary, Ivor and Enda.

Missing Galway Man Found 'Safe And Well'
Gardaí in Galway have reported that John Moyles has been found "safe and well". The 23-year-old, from the Rahoon area of Galway, was reported missing on Sunday. It is understood that he was found in the Dublin area. Garda have thanked the public for their help.

Limerick Church Rebuilding Stalled

The building project at the Crescent now looks set to remain on the 'back-burner' some four years after the building was purchased by the late Galway developer John O'Dolan.

Body Discovered In Galway Street
An investigation is underway following the discovery of a body in Galway city this morning. It is understood that the body of a 40-year-old local man was found at around 07:30 on Wednesday morning on Shop St. Gardaí have said that they do not believe the death to be suspicious.

Woman's Body Found In Dublin
The body of an elderly woman has been found in Dublin. The woman, aged 79, was found by a relative in the house at Ladycove, Rush, Co Dublin shortly after 7pm. Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery and the body remains at the scene and will be examined shortly by the State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy.
