Man Charged With Burglary Of Justice Ministers Home

A man is his 20’s has been charged with a break-in at Minister for Justice Alan Shatter’s home over the weekend.

The home of the minister, who is currently in Australia, was broken into on Sunday night around 11:30 and the man was arrested a short time later close to the residence in South Dublin.

He was charged with burglary on Monday night and will appear in Dun Laoghaire District Court later today.

A second man arrested on Sunday is still being question by gardai.

Shatter is expected to continue his visit to Australia and New Zealand as part of St Patrick’s Day celebrations.

It is unlikely what, if any, contents are missing from the home will be confirmed before the ministers return on Friday.

A vigil for a homeless man who died while sleeping on the streets of Dublin last week has been cancelled following revelations that he was on the sex offenders' register. Campaigners Home Sweet Home cancelled the vigil for Stephen 'Jack' Watson which was to be held outside Apollo House on Thursday, 07 September.

Missing Cork Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
