Conciliation Services Invite Accepted By Vita Cortex Workers

Vita Cortex workers in Cork have accepted an invitation from the Director of Conciliation Services at the Labour Relations Commission to meet in the dispute over redundancy payments.

Kevin Foley issued the invitation to see if the long running dispute between the workers and their former employer Jack Ronan can be resolved.

This is the third time the LRC has intervened in the row - the two previous attempts failed.

In a letter to both SIPTU and Mr Ronan's representatives IBEC, Mr Foley said that while the stated position of both sides seems intractable, he believes "meaningful engagement" to finally resolve the dispute can take place.

The Vita Cortex workers will mark the 100th day of their sit-in at the former foam manufacturing plant on the Kinsale Road tomorrow with a mass.

Local parish priest Fr Michael Murphy will celebrate the mass, which will take place at 11am.
