Almost 600,000 Registered For Household Charge
With tomorrow being the household charge deadline the total number of registered households has risen to 589,314.
40,103 properties had registered for the €100 charge since noon yesterday according to the Department of the Environment.
Revenue generated from the householders who have paid to date total’s €49.8 million.
However, more than one million households have yet to register for the controversial new tax.
Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan did not agree that there had been a mass boycott of the tax and again expressed confidence there would be a late surge: “Let us see by Saturday evening. I think you will see a significant increase in the people who have paid by Saturday evening, many more than people were predicting.”
