Ecstasy Seizure In Sligo

Two men have been have been arrested for possession of a large quantity of ecstasy tablets after the car they were traveling in was stopped yesterday.

In a joint operation between gardai from the Sligo Drugs Unit, Task Force and Detective units a car was stopped at Drumfin Cross on the N4 between Castlebaldwin and Collooney Sligo yesterday afternoon.

When the car was searched ecstasy with a street value of €50,000 was discovered.

The men, aged 20 and 22, were detained at the scene and are now in custody at Sligo gardai station.

Pensioner Dies In Sligo Collision
A pensioner has died in a car crash in County Sligo. The collision, which involved a car and a van, occurred at Lufnadeffa, Ballysadare at around 12.20pm on Wednesday. The driver of the car, a female in her 80s and the van driver are being treated in hospital with serious injures. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Two Arrested Over Murder Of Martin Kivlehan
Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Martin Kivlehan. 59-year-old Mr Kivlehan was found with stab wounds at his apartment in Sligo on 03 August. Both men were both arrested in Sligo town and are currently being detained at Sligo Garda Station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939.

Post Mortem For Sligo Assault Victim
A post mortem examination will be carried out today on the body of a 60-year-old man who died in hospital after being assaulted in Sligo town. Cyril Moran was assaulted at his home at River Road in the Cartron Point area of Sligo Town on Thursday morning.

Woman Seriously Injured In Three-Car Accident
A woman has been seriously injured following a three-car collision on the N4 Dublin/Sligo Road. The crash occurred on the Edgeworth Road at approximately 5.30pm on Wednesday (7 January). The woman is currently being treated at Midland Regional Hospital. The main Dublin/Sligo Road has been closed and diversions are in place.

Gardai Appeal Following Two Robberies
An appeal has been made for information or witnesses to come forward after two unrelated robberies in the State. The Gardai have reiterated their appeal for information on the robbery of a filling station in Tullaghan, Co.Leitrim.
