Search For Remains Of Columba McVeigh Begins

A new search has begun for the remains of Columba McVeigh this morning in county Monaghan.

The 17-year-old from Donaghmore in County Tyrone was abducted by the IRA is 1975.

He was working in Dublin at the time and had returned to Northern Ireland a few days before he disappeared.

Although extensive searched have been carried out in County Monaghan his remains have yet to be recovered.

The Independent Commission For The Location Of Victims' Remains (ICLVR) have not received any new information it is investigating land close to an area of bogland.

The remains of nine IRA victims have been found however seven of 'the Disappeared' remain undiscovered.

'Significant Quantities' Of Human Remains Uncovered In Tuam
"Significant quantities" of human remains have been discovered in a large underground structure at the former mother-and-baby home in Tuam, Co Galway. Surveys of the site were carried out the Mother And Baby Homes Commission of Investigation in October 2015, identifying two underground anomalies worthy of further investigation.

Garda Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Accident In Co Louth
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road traffic in Castlebellingham, Co Louth on Sunday. A man in his 40s died following a three car collision on the M1 northbound, between junctions 15 and 16 and about 22:30. The man was the driver of one of the vehicles.

Man Dies In Crash In Co Galway
A man has died following a collision in Ballinsloe, Co Galway. The crash occurred just after 10.30pm on Tuesday at Clookeenkerrill. It is understood the man was killed after the vehicle crashed into a tree. A post-mortem examination is to be carried out. The road remains closed and diversions are in place.

Human Remains Found At Recycling Plant Confirmed As Male
Human remains found at a recycling plant in Dublin belonged to a man, Gardaí have confirmed. Staff at the Thornton's recycling centre on Killeen Road, Ballyfermot, found the lower part of a human leg on Friday and called gardaí. The upper part of a leg was then found on Saturday.
