Son Charged With Fatal Shooting Of Father
A 33-year-old man will appear in court today charged with the fatal shooting of his father.
71-year-old Thomas Biggins died on Sunday afternoon after sustaining a gunshot wound from a double-barrelled shotgun, which was legally held and registered in his own name.
His son John is alleged to have shot his father at the family farm at Wallpark, Glencorrib, Co Mayo.
Gardai remained at the scene yesterday where investigating offivers found two spent shotgun shells and the weapon alleged used in the shooting.
Following the sons arrest officers are not looking for anyone in connection with the shooting.

Two Held Over Attempted Shooting Attack Released
Two men arrested in connection with an attempted shooting attack in Dublin have been released without charge. The incident occurred at a car park next to the Islandbridge Court Apartments on 1 November. A Honda Civic rammed another car at the scene. Two occupants in the car then ran after the driver of the other vehicle and fired a number of shots.

Shooting Victim's Father Injured In Finglas Gun Attack
The father of the man shot on Sunday in a Finglas pub has fallen victim to another gun attack in the area, only two days after the previous incident. The man in his early 50s is recovering in hospital after he was shot in north Dublin last night. Both incidents are believed to be connected, and related to a local feud in the area.

Donegal Man Loses Two Sons
The two sons of an Irish emigrant were among the victims of superstorm Sandy in the United States. Damian Moore, originally from Portnoo in Donegal, lost his four year old son Conor and two year old Brendan. Their mother Glenda made valiant efforts to save her boys.

Hospital May Withhold Treatment From Severely Disabled Boy
The President of the High Court has ruled that a six-year-old boy with severe brain injuries should not be resuscitated if his condition worsens. Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns said he believed the ventilation of the boy in the circumstances of this case would involve undue pain and suffering for him.
