Bus Sex Offender Jailed
A man who sexually assaulted six women on various buses in Dublin has been sentenced to three years in jail with the final 16 months suspended.
34-year-old Piotr Rownicki, of Seagrove Close, Finglas, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to seven charges of sexual assault between January 2007 and May 3rd, 2011. He assaulted one young woman twice on different buses.
The court heard that Rownicki, from Poland, had no previous convictions. He came to Ireland in October 2006. Luigi Rea, defending, said Rownicki had two relationships that had broken down, which he had taken badly, and this led to his offending.
Rownicki would sit beside his victim when there were other empty seats available, put a jacket over his knees, masturbate and touch the woman’s leg.
Rownicki was arrested in May 2011 after he sat on the 37 bus beside one woman he had sexually assaulted the previous spring. He assaulted her again in the same manner. She immediately recognised Rownicki. She was in “complete shock” when he started to touch her.
Garda McCormack said Rownicki had assaulted the five other women in the same manner.

Teen Sexually Assaulted Outside Home
An investigation has been launched after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted outside her home in Crumlin, south Dublin. It is understood the girl was standing at her front door when she was grabbed by a man and dragged to the side of the house, where she was attacked. Garda searched the area after the incident was reported to them around 01.

Father Guilty Of Raping Children
A Dublin court has found a father guilty of raping his two daughters and sexually abusing his son. The jury of eight men and four women at the Central Criminal Court, convicted the man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his children, of 80 sexual offences against the three victims, yesterday.

Surgeon Struck Off Over Sexual Assaults
A former consultant surgeon at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda has been struck off the medical register after claims he had sexually assaulted his patients. The surgeon was struck from the medical register for professional misconduct following an inquiry into complaints that Dr Michael Shine indecently or sexually assaulted male patients.

A 25-year-old man has been given a 10-year sentence for a sexual assault and violent attack on a woman in her own home. Andrius Pranaitis, of Dromin Road, Nenagh, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to attempted oral rape, aggravated sexual assault and burglary in Co Tipperary on August 14th, 2011.

A 17-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted in Swords while walking through a park. Gardai are appealing for information in relation to the serious assault, which took place at approx 2.40am on Sunday morning. The girl was walking through The Jacko Recreational Park in the centre of Swords when she was attacked by a lone male.
