McAreavey Murder Trail Enters Fifth Week
The Michaela McAreavey murder trail, being held in Mauritius, is entering it’s fifth week.
Today's proceedings are expected to involve discussion about CCTV images from the Legends Hotel reception area taken on the day that Mrs McAreavey was murdered.
Two Mauritian hotel workers are charged with murdering Michaela McAreavey while she was on honeymoon with her husband, John.
A German chef has come forward to say he and his then girlfriend were the couple in CCTV footage seen by jurors last Friday.
Defence lawyers have said that they are no longer pressing the issue about the identity of the couple in CCTV images at the Legend's Hotel.
The images had previously been thought important, as if the McAreaveys were the couple in the video, evidence given by John McAreavey to the court would have been undermined.
The trial that was scheduled to last two weeks enters its 20th day today.
