ILCU Reports Finds 47% Struggling To Pay Bills

According to a new report by the Irish League of Credit Unions, over 1.8 million people are left with €100 or less to live on a month after essential bills are paid.

The new report has been generated using the unions “What's Left'' tracker, which records household expenditure and how much disposable income Irish people have.

69% of people have less disposable income than 12 months ago, according to the ILCU report.

Mortgage and rent continue to be the most expensive bills for the majority of Irish adults, with groceries and utility bills in second and third place respectively.

47% of consumers struggle to pay all their bills on time, with the TV licence, phone bills and bin charges the most likely bills to be put off by consumers.

The report also shows an increase in the percentage of people who agreed that they were currently living to work, as opposed to working to live.
