Events In Phoenix Park Totally Unacceptable - Burton
Joan Burton TD, Minister for Social Protection, has said that what happened in the Phoenix Park on Saturday was "totally unacceptable".
Minister Burton said she wished to express her condolences to the families of the dead. She also extended her sympathies to all the injured people and their families.
She said that people who had set out to have a nice summer's day shouldn't have been subjected to the scenes which met them in the Phoenix Park at the weekend.
The Minister said she will be in touch with the Minister for Justice Alan Shatter and Brian Hayes, Minister of State with responsibility for the OPW, about the events in the park on Saturday and will ask for a thorough investigation.
"There will have to be a very detailed examination of the procedures in relation to holding concerts in the Phoenix Park and whether it is an appropriate venue for such concerts,'' she said.
"Serious questions need to be asked about whether there was sufficient security at the event.
"I saw the excessive intake of alcohol on Saturday as I was in the Castleknock and Navan Road areas myself. I also noticed that some very young people appeared to have been drinking heavily. The debris left behind made that very clear. I am also concerned about reports of other substances being abused''
"It is interesting that the atmosphere at the other events held in the Phoenix Park over the weekend was entirely different as they attracted a more mature audience."

Cyclist Dies Following Collision In Phoenix Park
A cyclist has died following a collision with a pedestrian in the Phoenix Park in Dublin. The crash occurred at around 8.40pm on Monday, 03 May. The man, aged in his 50s, was travelling on the cycle lane on the upper part of Chesterfield Avenue. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Beaumount Hospital.

Man Charged Over Murder In The Phoenix Park
A man, 27, has appeared in court charged with the murder of Gerard Donnelly in the Phoenix Park on Friday. Mr Donnelly is believed to have been burned to death and he also had a fractured skull. Ciaran Moran the accused has been remanded in custody. Meanwhile, a 17-year-old has also been arrested in connection with the murder.

A second man has been arrested in Dublin in connection with the murder of a man in the Phoenix Park on Friday. The man is currently being held at Finglas Garda Station. The victim is believed to have been attacked and set alight in a sleeping bag.

Gardaí have reported the discovery of a man's body in Phoenix Park, Dublin. The body was found in a sleeping bag near the Wellington Monument at around 1.30am. It is believed that the man had suffered burn injuries.
