Thieves Get Almost €3000 In Seventh Raid In Four Days
Armed raiders escpaed with just under €3,000 after they held up the AIB branch at Newlands Cross, Dublin, shortly after it opened today (Monday).
It is the seventh armed robbery in the capital in four days.
Two masked men, one brandishing a firearm, entered the bank and threatened staff, before making off on foot. Personal items belonging to customers were also taken.
One female customer was later treated for shock at the scene. Gardai in Clondalkin appealed for information on the men, who ran towards Boot Road.
Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan said significant progress had been made in their investigations over the past few days and he expected some arrests shortly, but added that there were no links between the robberies.

An Post Worker's Family Held Hostage
Gardaí are continuing investigations into an attempted robbery in which a family was held hostage. The incident took place last night around 9.30pm, when a gang of four armed men entered a house in Co Kildare. The family of six were held overnight.

Three men have been arrested in connection with a suspected armed robbery at a shop in Bawnogue Shopping Centre, Clondalkin. Two masked men threatened shop staff with a suspected firearm and fled the scene with a sum of cash. When the suspects left they were seen going in the direction of the Lealand estate.

Gardaí have launched an investigation following an armed robbery at Dún Laoghaire post office in Dublin this morning. Two men entered the post office, armed with what is believed to have been handguns, around 10.25am. They threatened staff before making off with an undisclosed amount of money.

An investigation has been launched following an armed robbery at a shop in Kildalkey, Co Meath At approximately 17:45 on Thursday, two males entered a shop armed with a hand gun and an iron bar. They threatened staff and removed an amount of cash before leaving the store. It is understood they were driven from the scene in a waiting car.
