Migrant Rights Centre Calls For Undocumented Workers Scheme

The Migrant Rights Centre has called for the introduction of a scheme that would allow undocumented migrant workers to earn permanent residency in Ireland.

A petition, which 4,000 Irish people who support the regularisation of undocumented migrants have signed, will be submitted to Minister for Justice Alan Shatter on Wednesday.

Edel McGinley of the Migrant Rights Centre has said that many undocumented migrants have PPS numbers and pay taxes, and while speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland claimed that there are up to 30,000 undocumented migrants living in the State.
