New Head Of Banking Policy Appointed
Mr John Hogan has been appointed as Head of Banking Policy in the Financial Services Division in the Department of Finance.
John will be responsible for developing and delivering policy in key policy areas such as credit and lending to SME’s, mortgage arrears and consumer issues. John was appointed following a competitive process ran by the Top Level Appoinments Committee (TLAC).
The Head of Banking Policy is a newly created position in the restructured Financial Services Division as set out in the Department's Strategy Statement published on the 10th of May 2012 and John’s appointment will complete this restructuring. An organisational chart for the new division is set out below.
John has held a number of positions in the Department of Finance throughout his career to date and joined the Financial Service Division in 2009. He is currently Head of Credit and Lending Policy where he played a key role in the completion of the Inter-Departmental Report on Mortgage Arrears (Keane Report) and the implementation of the Government’s Mortgage Arrears Strategy. Previous to this role he was Principal Officer in the Financial Stability section where he was centrally involved in the development of important legislative initiatives such as the Credit Institutions (Stabilisation) Act 2010 and the Credit Institutions (Resolution) Act 2011.
