Prior Hall Developer Wins Contempt Of Court Appeal
Former republican hunger striker has avoided jail after overturning a contempt of court judgement.
Thomas McFeely, who was declared bankrupt in Dublin yesterday, successfully appealed the judgement, which would have resulted in three months behind bars and a €1m fine.
Around 300 people were made homeless after they were evacuated from the Priory Hall complex amid warnings it was a fire hazard.
The developer was ordered to carry out the remedial works, however he was sentenced and fined when he failed to do so.
Mr McFeely's barristers appealed it was impossible for their client to comply with the orders because he had been evicted from the site.
