Nevin Secures Ireland's First Medal

Irish boxer John Joe Nevin scooped Ireland's first medal at the London Olympics.

The Cavan man has secured at least a bronze medal after winning against Oscar Valdez Fierro on Sunday night.

Nevin won 19-13 and is now two fights away from an Olympic gold.

Nevin told reporters: "It means a lot to me, but hopefully I can turn it into gold.

"Alvarez is the world champion, I will just just enjoy this win, that is a story for another day.

"It is like the Queen song, 'I want it all', I want every bit of it, I want to be the best in the world."
