SIPTU And HSE Begin Series Of Meetings To Resolve Dispute
SIPTU begin a series of meetings with the Health Service Executive in Cork tonight.
Up to 9,000 home help workers employed by the HSE are in dispute with their employer over not implementing a 2009 agreement on contracts.
A Labour Court recommendation in June directed the HSE to meet the union within a month to resolve the dispute.
SIPTU Organiser Sharon Cregan is now calling on all home help workers to attend the meetings in their areas so that they can be briefed on what is happening.
Tonight's meeting takes place at the Nemo Rangers GAA Club in Douglas at 7.30pm, while further meetings will take place around the country over the coming weeks.

Worker's union SIPTU has slammed a proposed 4.5% reduction in home help hours proposed in the Health Service Executive (HSE) Service Plan. The union said the reduction, published on Monday, "flew in the face" of the Government’s stated commitment to primary care.

DAA SIPTU Members Vote For Strike Action
SIPTU members of the Dublin Airport Authority have voted in favour if industrial action in a dispute over their pension scheme. The long-running dispute surrounds a deficit of around €780m in the Irish Aviation Superannuation Scheme, which covers workers in the DAA and Aer Lingus.
