Two Irishmen On UKs Tax Fugitive 'Most Wanted' List

Two Irish men have appeared on a “most wanted’ list of the top 20 UK tax fugitives, accused of fleeing the country after “being charged with a crime or during trial".

In an unprecedented move Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs –

the UK equivalent of Ireland's Revenue Commissioners – published the list of names, photo’s and descriptions in an effort to track the fugitives down.

Collectively they are accused of owing the UK €975m.

The two Irishmen on the list are 53-year-old John Nugent and 43-year-old Rory Martin McGann.

Nugent is thought to be in the US. he is accused of filing fraudulent claims for duty and VAT worth more than €28m. A warrant for his arrest was issued at Manchester Crown Court.

McGann is believed to be somewhere in Ireland. He is wanted for alleged VAT fraud worth just over €1m. He was arrested in November 2008 but later fled the jurisdiction.

Details of all 20 suspects – which includes just one female – including photographs were posted on the HMRCs Flickr page on Thursday morning.

Garda Appeal For Information On UK Fugitive Believed To Be In Ireland
Gardaí have appealed for information on the whereabouts of 18-year-old Ryan Humpage, who is wanted by police in the UK in connection with rape, theft and assault allegations. The UK's Lancashire Police issued an appeal for information on Ryan Humpage, who they said was known to travel throughout the UK and Ireland.

A notorious Dublin gang leader has fled the country after a hand grenade was thrown into his house. During the attack on Saturday morning, a red Fiat Punto pulled up to the house and a male ran to the front door, threw a rock through the window breaking the glass, followed by the grenade.

Adams Gives Himself Up
The fugitive brother of Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has handed himself over to the authorities in the Irish Republic. Liam Adams is wanted by police in Northern Ireland over claims he sexually abused his now grown-up daughter from the age of four.
