CRH To Cut 55 Posts
Building materials firm CRH is to axe 55 jobs at its Irish Cement plant in Limerick.
The company said the restructuring follows five years of decline in the Irish construction industry, with activity down 80 per cent from a peak in 2007.
It is believed the plan will be discussed with employees and unions over the coming days.

10-Year Driver License To Cost €55
Ahead of the transfer of responsibility for driver license services to the Road Safety Authority, minister for transport Leo Varadker, has announced that the cost of a 10-year license will be €55. A three-year licence, available only to those over 60, would cost €35 and a one-year €25.

Victims Of Corruption Receive €11m in Compensation
The negligence and corruption uncovered by the Morris Tribunal has resulted in payouts of €11 million for the 55 victims of gardaí misconduct. The 55 Donegal-related civil actions were part of a total of 190 civil cases connected to the actions of members of An Garda Siochana last year.

Renewed Appeal For 55-Year-Old Missing From Dublin
Gardaí have renewed their appeal for assistance in locating a 55-year-old man who is missing from his home in Sandyford, Dublin. Gerard Taylor has not been seen since Saturday 25 May. He was spotted near Ballinteer Avenue, Dublin 16, at around 9am that day and has not been seen since.

55% Increase In Reports Of Domestic Abuse Of Children
Reports of child abuse increased by 55% in 2012, according to domestic abuse charity, Woman's Aid. The groups annual reports reveals that in 2012, they received 16,200 disclosures of domestic violence against woman and 3,230 disclosures of emotional, physical and sexual abuse of children, an increase of 55% on the previous year.
