Live Register Decreases By 2,000
The number of people signing on the Live Register dropped by 2,000 in August to 434,000 according to figures by the Central Statistic Office (CSO).
The standardised unemployment rate in August this year was 14.7%, this remained unchanged from the latest July 2012 rate.
On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register showed a monthly decrease of 600 men in August 2012, while females decreased by 1,300 over the same period.

Joan Burton, Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection, has welcomed the latest figures which reveal a fall in the number of those unemployed. The Live Register figures, published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), which showed the unemployment rate in Ireland continues to fall. For August, the rate was 11.2%, compared to a peak of 15.

Minister Welcomes Fall In Live Register Figures
The latest Live Register figures, released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), show that the standard unemployment rate in Ireland is now 10%. This represents a fall in the number of people on the Live Register of 1.8% on the previous month, and continues a trend of a reduction in the levels of people signing on.

Unemployment Continues To Fall
The unemployment rate, measured on the Live Register, is continuing to drop, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office. There has been a 9% year on year decrease in the number of people on the Live Register, with the September 2014 headline figure now standing at 370,050.
