Stabbing Victim Found Hidden In Wardrobe Wrapped In Plastic
A man is expected to be charged at Dublin District Court this morning with the murder of Christopher Jackson.
The man was questioned over the weekend following the discovery of Mr Jacksons body on Saturday afternoon.
The 53-year-old victim was stabbed 70 times before being wrapped in plastic and a duvet.
The body was then carried to a flat and hidden in a wardrobe. Gardai made the discovery as the killers were about to dispose of it.
Gardai believe Mr Jackson was murdered after a row on Thursday, and that the tenant of the flat knew nothing about the plot. Mr Jackson previously lived in Crumlin and was known to local gardai as a minor offender.
Officers detained a 39-year-old man in the north city on Saturday and he was taken to Bridewell garda station. A woman in her 40s was also arrested shortly afterwards.
Both were questioned at the garda station late last night under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, which allows gardai to hold them without charge for up to 24 hours, excluding rest periods.
During follow-up inquiries yesterday afternoon, gardai arrested another man in his 30s and he was taken to Mountjoy station for questioning.
Gardai have recovered two knives which were used in the attack and they said last night they were pleased with the progress made in their inquiries.
