Actor Extradited From Britain To Face Robbery Charge In Limerick

An actor has pleaded guilty to the theft of €5,200 from a Limerick shop in 2009.

25-year-old Craig Fitzpatrick, who has appeared in Channel 4’s Shameless as well as BBC’s Waterloo Road, was extradited from Britain o Wednesday, appeared before a special court sitting of Limerick District Court within an hour of his flight landing at Shannon Airport yesterday.

Fitzpatrick, originally from Manchester but with an address at St Joseph’s Place, Limerick, was arrested in London last week on foot of a European arrest warrant which was issued in early 2010.

An Irish bench warrant was initially issued in October 2009 after he failed to turn up in court in Limerick to face the robbery charge.

Judge Eugene O’Kelly was told that Fitzpatrick had acted as a lookout during the theft from Meed Beauty on Parnell Street, Limerick, on 15 August 2009.

The court was told there was no direct altercation between the accused and the injured parties.

After accepting Fitzpatrick’s guilty plea, Judge O’Kelly remanded him in custody until next Tuesday for sentencing.

Human remains found in Galway Bay on 29 November have been confirmed as those of missing Limerick woman, Maria Hennigar. The 35-year-old was reported missing on 22 November, although she had not been seen earlier that month.

Investigation Launched Following Bone Discovery In Co Clare
An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a bone in Co Clare. A bone was found on Thursday, 22 September, on the Shannon riverbank at Doonass, Clonlara, on the Clare-Limerick border. Gardaí were called to the scene and are understood to have examined and photographed the scene before the bone was removed.

Man Dies In Limerick Collision
A man has died in a crash in Co Limerick. The car veered off the road and hit a ditch at Dromsallagh at around 4.15am on Sunday, 05 June. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man is currently being treated for his injuries at the University Hospital Limerick. The road has been re-opened.
