Suspected Questioned Over Dublin Killing

A man is being questioned in connection with the suspected gangland shooting of a man in the Ballyfermot area of Dublin on Friday.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was detained on Friday and is being held under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007, at Ballyfermot Garda station.

It is in connection with the death of 35-year-old John Wilson, who was shot in the arm and torso at his home in Cloverhill Road just before 15:00 on Friday last.

The main line of inquiry is that it is a revenge murder for the shooting dead of key Real IRA member Alan Ryan four weeks ago.

Frantic efforts were made to revive Wilson but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The area was sealed off by gardaí before Wilson’s body was taken away for a full postmortem.

The killing was the 13th gang-related gun murder of the year.
