Quinn Jnr Told 'Don't Complain'
The judge hearing Sean Quinn Jr’s appeal has said he has no right to complain about being in prison.
Mr Justice Donal O'Donnell said: "He committed a contempt of court. If he does not purge that contempt he does not remedy it.
"How can he complain about being committed to prison?"
33-year-old Quinn Jnr was jailed for three months in July after it was ruled that he, his father and cousin Peter Darragh Quinn were in contempt after putting international property worth millions beyond Anglo Irish’s reach.
During the appeal, which began on Tuesday, Quinn Jnr’s lawyers told the court that an order to jail him while his father worked to reverse the measures was "legally incorrect."
Brian O'Moore SC said that there was no precedent before the court to jail a defendant to force the hand of another.
New evidence is being heard on the second day of Quinn Jnr’s appeal.
The court was also made aware of a transcript of a secretly recorded video detailing a meeting in Kiev on 21 July which (former Anglo Irish) IBRC bank claims proved Mr Quinn Jr was involved in an asset-stripping scheme in the Ukraine.
Mr O'Moore said it was "given by somebody who clearly has a hostile approach towards the Quinn family.
"It is difficult to unscramble the omelette and object to it not being shown to the court, but the transcript of the meeting makes it plain that the meeting was fraught," he said.
The appeal hearing continues.
