Anglo Irish Executives In Court
Former Anglo Irish senior executives are appearing in Dublin District Court charged with unlawfully assisting investors.
The three men are former chairman and chief executive Seán FitzPatrick, former finance director Willie McAteer and the bank's former managing director in Ireland Patrick Whelan.
They are charged with unlawfully helping a group of investors buy shares in the bailed-out bank in 2008. The list of investors included six members of the Quinn family.
The accused have been presented with the documents outlining the State's case against them.
The 16 offences come under Section 60 of the Companies Act and relate to permission given to the bank to give financial assistance to Patricia Quinn, her five children and ten senior clients of the bank, to enable them to buy Anglo Irish shares.
This morning, declarations were signed by three detectives from the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation to confirm the documents had been served.
None of the accused spoke during the hearing. The three men have been remanded on continuing bail.
Mr Whelan was told he would be allowed to suspend his signing on at a garda station during those periods when he is outside the country, provided he notifies the authorities.
The case is to be listed at the Circuit Criminal Court for mention between now and December.
