600 Jobs Created By Paddy Power Expansion

The creation of more than 600 jobs at bookmaker Paddy Power’s new headquarters in Clonskeagh in Dublin will be announced by Taoiseach Enda Kenny on Thursday.

The new posts will be created in areas such as e-commerce, technology, social media, research, risk management and online marketing, between now and the end of 2015.

Paddy Power has created 190 jobs since the beginning of April. It currently employs 2,172 people in Ireland.

The new positions will bring the bookmaker's total Irish workforce to 2,783.

Strong international online growth in recent years has seen the company expand its operations into the UK, Australia and Italy.

North's Boxers 'Knockout' Performance Praised
The news that Paddy Barnes, Paddy Gallagher and Eamonn O'Kane have won Northern Ireland's first Commonwealth Games gold medals in boxing for 16 years has been welcomed in political circles. It came after light flyweight Barnes, bronze medallist at the Beijing Olympics, beat defending champion Jafet Uutoni of Namibia 8-4 on points.

April 1st Mahon Challenge Granted
There's to be an April Fool's Day challenge by the Taoiseach into aspects of the Mahon Tribunal's enquiries about his own financial affairs. The case will be heard by the High Court on 1 April by a divisional or three-judge High Court convened to hear the action.
