Youth Group Issues Guidelines On How To Tackle Cyber Bullying

A youth group has issued guidelines on how to tackle cyber bullying, following the death of two teenage Irish girls who committed suicide after being bullied online.

The latest incident happened in Donegal on Saturday when 13-year-old Erin Reid died after killing herself after she was subjected to abusive comments.

SpunOut.ie is urging young people to make sure they do not respond to unwanted messages and to save them as proof.

Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Communications Manager Ian Power said: "Cyberbullying is unique insofar that it's much more easy to keep evidence of it than something that's happening offline.

"So it's important for everybody to be aware how to take a screenshot and keep that evidence.

"And afterwards you should really speak to a trusted adult, whether that's an older sibling, or a parent or uncle or aunt, but basically ask for help."
