Digital Hub Welcomed
Dublin Bay North Labour Party T.D. and member of the Oireachtas Committee on Communications and Transport, Seán Kenny, today welcomed the announcement that the Digital Hub will transition into Dublin City Council (DCC) as part of the Government programme to rationalise State Agencies.
He said: "Following detailed consideration in the first half of 2012, it was decided that the most appropriate arrangements in respect of the Digital Hub Development Agency, was that it would transition to the management of Dublin City Council, which is keen to develop Dublin as a hub for digital and green enterprises. It also has considerable experience in the management and development of property and in urban regeneration. This makes the Council particularly well placed to oversee the continued management of the Digital Hub Development Agency (DHDA).
"A transition plan will be put in place to manage the process of moving the Digital Hub over to Dublin City. I understand that this plan will be putting in appropriate administrative arrangements in place by the end of the year. This development offers certainty to the enterprises located at the Digital Hub and recognises the important role that the DHDA is playing in promoting employment and new opportunities in the digital media sector. The Digital Hub plays a recognised role in sustaining new jobs and enterprise. It is my intention that the new governance model which emerges over the coming months will continue to maintain and support the valuable work of the DHDA."
